Sandy Block, a research associate of the Center on Community Living and Careers (CCLC), will help explain the concept of customized employment during a free webinar next week. Block will join forces with Curt Sutterfield, of Tangram, an Indiana community services provider, during "What Is Supported Employment?" a Tangram-sponsored webinar, September 16, at 12:30-1:30 p.m., Eastern Time.
During the webinar, Block will delve into how customized employment can benefit employers as well as their employees with disabilities. The term "customized employment" refers to an arrangement between a worker and an employee that focuses on the strengths of the employee and that benefits both.
Wearing multiple hats at CCLC, Block has expertise in both the employment and education realms. She's currently a member of CCLC's Employment Technical Assistance team, and she assists the Indiana Secondary Transition Resource Center by providing training and technical assistance to Indiana teachers learning the state's new transition portfolio system. Block also recently led an effort by the Governor's Council for People with Disabilities to increase awareness and knowledge of self-employment options available to Hoosiers with disabilities.
